Should the proposed Makro be built many residents and business people in Magaliessig, Lonehill, Fourways and surrounding areas will feel the impact of increased traffic in their suburbs and on their major work routes. Parts of these suburbs already suffer from major traffic congestion and some of the roads are already in a bad condition due to heavy traffic for which they were not designed.

ISSUES WITH VODACOM 3G IN MAGALIESSIG? |
|
The Magaliessig Action Forum recently received an email from Sara, a new resident in Magaliessig who has been struggling with very poor Vodacom 3G coverage in our suburb. She has discovered that according to the Vodacom Coverage map, part of Magaliessig falls into a “dead zone”.
Having spoken to the support team at Vodacom, she has learnt that if we can get enough people who are battling the same issue to complain about the signal strength, Vodacom may be able to do something to increase their 3G coverage in Magaliessig.
If you are also struggling with poor Vodacom 3G signal in Magaliessig, please email us at

JRA TO THE RESCUE IN TROUPANT AVE |

Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has temporarily fixed the troublesome potholes on Troupant Avenue in Magaliessig by filling them with sand and will repair them more permanently within the next week or so. It is MAF’s understanding that the agency is currently undertaking plant maintenance, but it has promised to make permanent repairs within the next few days.
Troupant Avenue in Magaliessig has proven extremely treacherous for motorists over the past few weeks as numerous new potholes have appeared and existing potholes have worsened. The local newspaper, Fourways Review, dedicated an article to the state of the road in its last edition of 2011, in which a spokesperson from JRA commented that the agency had not been aware of the problem and promised to fix the potholes that week.
When a concerned resident called a few days ago to follow up on the progress, the response from JRA was immediate. The potholes were filled on 4 January and JRA senior management have assured that the temporary filling solution, which was undertaken in order to make the roads safer for all users, will be followed up with more permanent repairs as soon as possible.
MAF would like to thank JRA for their positive response and their assistance with making our neighbourhood a safe place. |
